Hi there. I’m Jenee (you say it kinda like Forrest Gump would say Jen-nay – or Renee with a ‘J’).
But this isn’t about me. This is about you. You’re here because you want to get s#!$ done and still love your life. You want to look at your to-do list and goals without wanting to throw up. I’m going to go out on a limb and say you’re craving a “Not Perfect, Just Awesome” approach to living a productive and meaningful life.
If you are anything like me you love having fun with people you love, going on adventures, trying new things, and laughing so hard with your bestie you pee your pants (just a little). You also have a creative side, love to solve people’s problems, and maybe even an entrepreneurial spirit.
You’re trying to figure out how to have more with less (because sometimes “stuff” weighs us down). Being a minimalist girly-girl seems like an oxymoron – but you continue to try anyway. You get distracted by shiny objects and squirrels.
You have tried every “time-management” trick under the sun and still haven’t quite figured it out – so you think you’re just bad at it. Well I’m here to say – you don’t suck at time management. Time management sucks – it doesn’t exist. What does exist are your current values and priorities. Not your values from 5 years ago. Not the priorities you think you need because everyone else tells you to have them. What matters most to you right now? When you focus on your values and priorities, time is no longer an issue. You can more easily say no to the meh and yes to the awesome. Mind blown? You’re welcome. *winky face*
I understand what it is like to make a to-do list of 20 items and beat yourself up when you only complete 10. And that guilt and shame sticks with you the next day – making it drag on for-e-ver. And the vicious cycle repeats. When in reality those 20 items were a 50 hour day and you beat yourself up for nothing. I know what it is like to work so hard you feel like you’re on the Teacups ride a Disneyland – sweating and essentially going nowhere at turtle speeds.
Ever feel like a spicy disaster who is constantly forgetting or losing things they need? Meeeeee toooooo.
After struggling with all of this I’ve picked up a few tricks to help me be a functioning human. In fact – in some areas I’ve become extra productive. After almost dropping out of UCLA because I was so stressed with school I got diagnosed with ADHD. Then I completed two years of school in one while working and graduated in only three years. And somehow that double load was less stressful than my first two years combined. I actually had fun! I wrote my first book in seven hours after having writer’s block and struggling with one chapter for seven months. I don’t say this to brag – only to show that if my hot mess self can do this – so can you. Was it easy? No. Was it doable? Yes. Do I still struggle? Heck yeah! But I have learned how to pick myself back up and keep going from too many people to name here.
Remember – you’re not perfect, just awesome.
If you can relate, even a little. Let’s do life together. Let’s have fun together. Let’s learn better ways of doing things together. I promise to do my best to make my tips simple and practical to implement. Deal?
