Hey, I know you. You’ve been holding every item in your house and asking yourself, “Does this spark joy?” You’re trying really hard to be a minimalist and Black Friday sales are calling out to you. Don’t worry. I got you. Here are my recommendations on deals you can take advantage of for things that will bring joy in the form of making your life easier.
I love to plan out my shopping in advance to make sure I’m only buying what I truly want and need when things go on sale, and not just making impulse purchases. I have a list called “Purchases That Will Make My Life Easier” in order to keep track of all the items and brands I want to follow for sales.
I am posting this early so you can start thinking about and planning your own Minimalist Black Friday shopping list. As Black Friday prices become available I will be updating this article, so check back in to see all the latest deals for items you are watching out for.
This article is meant to be skimmed. I don’t want you to run out and buy everything on this idea list. Think about what you’ve been wanting, needing, or curious about, and if I cover any of those topics you can scan over to them first. Don’t forget to add your own wants and needs to your list so you can look out for deals.

Instant Pot
This is hands down the most used item in my house and one of the best purchases I have made for adulting. I easily cook more at home and the meals are healthier. Which has helped the hubs and I save time, save money, and lose weight. The sauté feature sold me – I hate having to dirty another pan to brown my meat.
Get at least an 8qt, or larger, if you like leftovers or meal planning – because you can only fill up to ⅔ of the pot safely when you use a pressure cooker.
I also love how versatile the Instant Pot is. You can make stew, pot roast, ramen soup, hard-boiled eggs, sterilize baby bottles, and so much more. Man, that sounds like a creepy infomercial – but you get my point. I’m a sucker for multi-functional products that work well.
Instant Pot Accessories
If you decide the Instant Pot is for you there are a few accessories I have found useful to have on hand the more I use it.
Get an extra pot. If your extra pot is in the fridge and you want to make another meal a day or two later you’re outta luck. Because I use my Instant Pot so much this is extremely useful for me.
You’re gonna want lids for your pots. You can cover the same pot you cooked with and put it in the fridge, rather than transferring leftovers into containers that you have to wash later.
Get a second Instant Pot. If you already have a rice cooker this option doesn’t apply to you. Often times I use my old rice cooker to make rice or quinoa while I use my Instant Pot to cook the main dish. But if I didn’t have my old rice cooker you better believe I would be buying a second Instant Pot.
Norpro Stainless Steel Grapefruit Spoons, Set of 4
This is the best tool for the lazy fruit eater. I love watermelon but I hate cutting it up. Now I buy mini watermelons, cut them in half and eat it straight out of nature’s watermelon-bowl with my “grapefruit” spoon. I use it for kiwi’s too. Worth. Every. Damn. Penny. This probably won’t even be on sale for Black Friday but they are so cheap, it doesn’t really matter.

Litter Robot (aka Shittertron 5000)
We bought a Litter Robot because my cat George is a poop factory and I hate scooping litter.
My only gripes are it is huge, the top globe part is hard to clean, and it isn’t as odorless as they claim. Other than that, it saves me time and grossness from not scooping daily and that makes it all worth it for me. I have two cats and only need to empty the bin every 5 days or so.
Was it super expensive? Yes.
Did we name it Shittertron 5000? Yes.
Would I buy it again? Yes.
Black Friday 2019: They are offering some bundle deals that give $100 discount.

Purple Pillow – like sleeping on a jiggly boob
Pillows are so hard to recommend because everyone is built differently.
If you run hot and really value a cool pillow – this is your pillow. I hate neck sweat. The original Purple Pillow is the coolest sleeping pillow I have ever tried.
It is super heavy, so if sleeping with your hand under your pillow is non-negotiable, this pillow is not for you. Also, if you are a side sleeper it does leave weird grid marks on your face in the morning.
It has a jiggly bouncy feel when you turn over that my husband isn’t a fan of, but I love it! It reminds me of rocking in a hammock which is soothing to me.
I am 97% in love with my pillow. I wish it had a teeny bit more height to it and so does my husband. This could be because we don’t own a Purple Mattress yet and our current mattress is more firm than I’d like.
Other than that it is extremely comfortable and because it is so cooling it makes it hard for me to switch back to any other pillow. (Hint hint Purple…if you are reading this please come out with a more options).
Because Purple has a 100-day guarantee, it doesn’t hurt to try it and see if this is the pillow you’ve been waiting for all of your life.
Black Friday 2019: They are giving 10% accessories, including pillows.

Tyme Iron Pro
Holy forking shirtballs I love my Tyme Iron Pro. It is a hair straightener and hair curler in one so it saves space. You have so many different curl options just by holding the iron in a different direction.
The iron is also easy on your wrist because you don’t have to twist it awkwardly like all other straighteners and curling irons.
There is a learning curve with this iron. That being said, I am hair tool challenged – to this day I still can’t use a regular curling iron. But I was able to pick up the basics with the Tyme Iron Pro after 4 to 5 sittings – which says a lot for me.
I have a ton of fine hair – it saves me so much time curling my hair. With an old school curling iron it would take me at least 45 minutes with all of my hair. This tool only takes me 10 to 15 minutes! And the rose gold is pretty to look at.
Black Friday 2019: Discounts from 18% to 50% off different bundles.

BlowTyme Hair Dryer
Not only did this cut down the time it takes to blow dry my hair in half, it also makes it sooooooo much easier because it is so freaking light!
My arm doesn’t hurt after blow drying my hair anymore AND I’m not all sweaty and gross after showering because of an unwanted arm workout disguised as blow-drying my hair.
Plus the rose gold is gorgeous and matches my Tyme Iron Pro. The only downside is the teal color from my hairbrush rubs off on the beautiful blush colored duckbill nozzle on my dryer. I still love it.
Black Friday 2019: You can get an awesome bundle including the hairdryer, Tyme Iron Pro, plus accessories for 50% off, or the blow dryer by itself for 18% off.

Pony-O
I tried the original Pony-O and it didn’t work for me – my hair was too thick and didn’t fit. So when the Pony-O XL came out I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it.
This thing is worth the price of admission for the simple fact that I never have to adjust my hair when I’m working out anymore. I put my hair up and it stays put so I can focus on my workout. The bonus, it is waterproof and doesn’t crease or damage your hair.
Black Friday 2019: Up to 25% off sitewide! 15% off one package and 25% off

Peloton
I have used a lot of workout videos and equipment over the years and this is by far the best, no-regrets, purchase I have ever made. And I didn’t even want the bike initially, it was for my husband.
Before when I would try those at home workout videos I wouldn’t be able to stick with a program for more than a month. While they were effective I would want to throat punch the instructor after listening to them say the same damn thing every day for a month.
Peloton has so many amazing instructors with the option of taking live classes or from a library of thousands of previously recorded classes so you never get bored.
I just celebrated my Century Ride (over 100 rides) and I still look forward to using the bike – that says a lot.
Black Friday 2019: You’re getting $249 worth of free accessories with the purchase of your bike.

Apple MacBook Pro or Air
I am writing this article on a 2013 11 inch MacBook Air that keeps on tickin’. I love Mac!
When I was a non-Mac user I would get a laptop and within two months it would be so buggy and slow – it was miserable to use. Within two years they would be dead and need a replacement.
I’ve also worked on MacBook Pro’s at work and miss them dearly. When this Macbook Air finally dies I will likely upgrade to a Pro with a larger screen.
I’ve had this computer for over six years and it has needed zero repairs so far. In fact, while I paid a little more money upfront for this computer, not having to buy a new laptop every two years has saved me a ton of money. Plus I got my computer on sale during Black Friday so I recommend you do the same.
Bose Noise Canceling Headphones
My husband just wanted these for travel and I thought it was a ridiculous amount of money to spend on headphones.
But I have ADHD and he sold me on the idea that we could share the headphones because it might help me focus better at work. I was shocked at how well they help me focus and I can wear them for hours without my ears hurting or getting a headache.
So…I stole “our’ headphones. I regret nothing.
Sony Noise Canceling Headphones
My brother-in-law is an audiophile and he says the Sony headphones sound better than Bose. I still love my Bose headphones – so to each their own. But since he loves these headphones so much I thought I’d give you options.
Happy Guilt-Free Black Friday Shopping
You don’t need all of the things on this list, but if there is anything on this list that speaks to your current priorities and needs, I can say with confidence they are worth the money! At least it is to me. So if you are going to get a good deal on them, might as well invest in them now – if your budget allows.
I’m posting this blog early, so come back to see updated Black Friday prices as they become available.
And if nothing spoke to your current needs or priorities on this list, no worries. I hope the reasons I gave for loving what I purchased can inspire you to think about your needs and what you’d love more of in your life so you can make your own list.
Did you find this useful? Don’t keep it a secret. I would love it if you would share it with a friend, colleague or loved one. It is the biggest compliment you can give me.
